  Craniosacral Therapy (CST)... dates back to the late 1800's.   It is a gentle method of detecting and correcting the affects which stress, trauma and illness have upon our brain, central and our autonomic nervous systems.   The craniosacral system consists of delicate membranes (the Dura) and cerebrospinal fluid that cover and protect the brain and spinal cord.   Enveloping the bones of the face, skull and mouth, these membranes extend down the spinal canal, anchoring above the tail bone, upon the sacrum.   The significance of the Dura is that it possesses only 7 centimeters (approximately 3-3.5 inches) of flexibility or slack.   In the presence of structural malalignments, poor posture and curvatures of the spine, this slack is diminished, creating significant tension and compression of the Dura.   The side effect is increased brain, spinal cord and cranial bone compression.   The craniosacral system operates on the principles of hydraulics.   Cerebrospinal fluid fills or empties within the brain every 6 seconds of the day.   Disturbances, imbalances or compression forces within the hydraulic system can potentially cause any number of sensory, motor or neurologic disabilities or disorders.   The gentle nature of CST encourages the body's inherent healing and self correction capabilities to alleviate the destructive effects that stress and dysfunction play upon our skeletal, central and autonomic nervous systems.   Conditions that have respond well to CST:
